So this was our second year at Disney On Ice...Keelyn's first. The kids got all gussied up. Keelyn's been dying to wear this Santa dress. Ain't she perrty? Hailey has been equally desperate to have her picture taken with the tree on the front porch. She even sang "We Wish You a Merry Christmas!" while I was taking it.
I should pause for a moment to talk about the Post-It. I'm quite certain that the person who invented the sticky note had absolutely no intention of doing so when it happened. I am even more certain that the inventor couldn't have filled his wildest dreams with the concept of automatic flushing toilets in bathrooms at large stadiums, and their need for such sticky notes. But, the Post-It single-stickied-ly saves us from said automatic flushers, as they might just suck us down otherwise.
Truly.
Like rows and rows of loud constant flushing isn't horrifying enough as an adult? What with the four times the toilet flushes in the 30 seconds it takes to pee? But then, place a tiny person on a toilet, and it goes bananas. It's like a flush party. A loud, spray water all over the place, scare the begeezies out of small children, flush party. So thank you, Mr. Post-It inventor man, you save our lives, over and over again.
And if you still don't know what I'm talking about, well, the Post-It is used to cover the sensor while the small child sits on the pot. Hands free. Otherwise, you might find yourself in my position some day. More than once, I have used both hands to hold Hailey above the seat of a particularly dirty public toilet, while standing on one foot so that I could use the other to cover the sensor.
One foot. I'm a rockstar mom, in case you had questions. ROCK. STAR. Thankyouverymuch.
And. Doesn't Keelyn look thrilled? Her face is actually saying, "Mom, Mickey is totally down there skating, and you are making me look at you. So. This is what you get. Take the picture so I can get with my people. And I am tired, because I chose not to take a nap even though you told me to. You were right, I now see the error of my ways." (Okay, well maybe she wasn't thinking that last part).
Hailey and Keelyn played musical chairs the whole night between Mom and me, but most of Hailey's time was spent with Nana, so I soaked up every moment of my lap time with her. She has grown up so much since last year at this time.
See, everyone was there. Keelyn was squealing with delight as she named each of her long-lost play mates down on the ice.
Hailey was in awe of the twirls and flips the skaters were doing.
Even the princesses showed up. If you ask Hailey, more than one of them waved at her. At her, ya'll. She's a rockstar too.
"See, Mommy! 'Notha one! Rella! Beyelle! Mehmayed!"
The entire second half was spent dancing. Hailey in Nana's lap, and Keelyn, standing on the floor in front of me, moving her body with such excitement, she deserved to be down on the ice with the performers.
It was really cute, the dancing. And I totally got a video of it...until I realized as I pressed record to stop recording, that it had just started. And it was the end. So, the cuteness remains in my head, and not on this here blog. But. Just imagine the cutest, most excited dancing Keeksie's little body could do, and that would not be enough to illustrate how cute and excited she actually was. Her head was flying around like a yo-yo, her feet stomping so fast and hands flapping so vigorously she could have taken off. It was adorable.
The magic of Disney never disappoints. The kids watched with such wonder. The lights. The music. The dancing. And a real live Mickey and Minnie. You really can't top that.

so cute!! I've only been to Disney on ice ONCE and you know who it was with?? The little red headed boy that used to dance with us...shoot I can't remember his name but he took me there with his parents as a little date hahaha so cute :)
Oh you made me wish I was there! I can't wait to take N & N next year- Maybe we should all go together? That'd be fun! Considerng that our children are all in love with Mickey and Minnie:)
And thank you for the post-it note trick. Hadn't thought of that. But by the sounds of your position otherwise, you definitely are a rock star!
