Our house at Christmas 2009

Christmas Tour of Homes with The Nester

The decorations are out, and this year we had two wonderful little helpers to make everything perfect. It was joyous to see the experience that each of them is having this Christmas.
Keelyn, jumping from box to box intrigued by what was inside, but timid, with a belly full of nervous laughter and squeals at all the new things to find. Hailey, leaping around the house, placing things here and there just as she remembers them from last year...proud and excited to remember.
We got a big tree this year, big enough to fill it with all of our favorite ornaments, both old and new.
Hailey placed her jingle bells all neatly in a cluster...right at her eye level. You know, in case she's in need of a jingle.
And my nativity will always be one of my very favorite things to display. See the sheep in front? I lifted Hailey to look inside and find Baby Jesus, and her response was, "He looks like a sheep." Oh, how I love her.
The stockings were hung, but I can't say with care. Keelyn was so excited about holding the "Ma-an!" on hers, that we had to bribe her to get it up.
The advent boxes and Elfie are back for Christmas fun each morning...and a nice reminder this month that Santa is watching.
This year I left the table mostly clear, so we can enjoy Christmas dinner with a little more elegance than last year, which we enjoyed in the kitchen. We did get some gorgeous china for our wedding way back when, and it would be nice to use it once in a while.
I love the things we have that mark important dates in our lives as a family. I love that they can come out at Christmas and remind us how fortunate we are to have each other.
The kids share a tree in the dining room. A pink one.
And we have lots of kid Christmas toys to keep them occupied and out of the adult breakable Christmas stuff we cherish. Keelyn particularly loves the Little People nativity. Baby "Desuths" has been all over our house. She has rocked him, washed him, swaddled him, and cuddled him. She also sings Happy Birthday to him regularly. Sweet.
And as always, Andrew lights up the outside to twinkle and sparkle, and it looks beautiful.

I think one of Fisher Price's BEST moves ever was making that Little People nativity scene. My girls were ALWAYS wanting to play with my breakable set, and I wanted to let them, but at the same time - ACK!!! When I found that LP set I almost cried. They've now outgrown it for the most part, but I will always put it up, from now to forever. It's become a special part of our Chirstmas.

Love the decor! We're usually travelling so much in and out around the holidays we don't do too much decorating, but I just love it! Thanks for sharing your traditions! As soon as the boys get a little bigger I think I'll put some more time and effort into it!
